Alice Maurine Clark
Alice Maurine Clark 1930 - 2022
On the evening of July 12, 2022, Alice “Marny” Maurine Clark returned to her heavenly home and was finally reunited with her husband, Percy, after a short illness. Maurine was born May 24, 1930, to M. Wayne Peterson and Elizabeth Rudd Peterson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Maurine loved playing sports and was quite the tomboy in her younger years. In 1948, she graduated high school, married her high school sweetheart, Percy L. Clark, and started a family with the birth of the first of seven children.
Maurine was always proud to be a police officer's wife and filled her days with taking care of her children and target shooting. She was a member of the Pistol Team on The Annie Oakley League (Women’s team with The Salt Lake City Police Force) and served as President of The Utah Peace Officers Association. Maurine became a widow in 1973 when Detective Percy Clark was killed in the line of duty. She has waited almost 50 years for this amazing reunion!
Marny was a sports spectator enthusiast, she loved watching her Utes Football, and was always a faithful supporter of the Utah Jazz, even through the rebuilding years! She spent her golden years bowling once a week with her league, golfing with family and friends, and reading. She was a lover of dogs, and could be seen with at least one dog and sometimes two, especially in her later years.
Maurine is survived by her sister: Kay Deen Peterson Mancebo (Jerry); Children: S. Christine Clark Thomson (William), Kelly William Clark (Debi), S. Kathleen Clark Koester (Mick), Robert Lindsay Clark (Vicki), Patricia Ann Clark Goodsell (Rick) and Melissa Beth Clark, 19 grandchildren, and countless great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sweetie, Percy, parents; siblings Phillip and Janice; son: Michael Wayne Clark; son-in-law: Rick Goodsell; grandson: Todd Jay Koester and great-grandson: Daniel Clark.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
