Arnold LaMar Penrod

1933-2018

Arnold LaMar Penrod passed away February 13, 2018.  Peacefully in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born in Pinetop, Arizona Sept. 26, 1933 to Cecil Packer Penrod and Jeanette Clara Sayan. He spent most of his growing up in the Mesa, Arizona area.  He married Nancy Jo Clark on Sept 1, 1956 in El Paso Texas. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona temple. 

He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956, he was then transferred to the navy reserves for another 6 years. He worked as district manager for Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette newspapers. LaMar and Nancy were champion archers, they loved to compete together.

As a married man with 3 small children they moved to Alaska and spent 17 wonderful years there raising a family. He worked hard as a heavy equipment operator in Alaska. He later became the Superintendent of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Public Works.

He and his wife served a faithful mission for 6 years at Haskell Indian Nation University in Lawrence Kansas.

He is survived by a wonderful wife of 62 years, Nancy Jo Penrod and 5 children Mitchell (Gina) Penrod, Brent (Rhonda) Penrod, Scott (Debbie) Penrod, Sheri (Karl) Toledo, Carol (Grant) Kerr. 

He was also survived by his brother Russell (Marie) Penrod, sisters Arlene (Randy) King, Beth (Edmond) Landais, Karen (Glenall) Lackey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Liola, Cecil, Gale and sister Louise Beitler. 

Family and friends are invited to a viewing at 12:00 PM Feb. 24, 2018 Bountiful Central Stake Center (640 S. 750 E. Bountiful, UT) the funeral will Follow at 1:00 PM. Interment services will be held at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful UT.
