Charles Wendell Leon Tannehill

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Wendell Leon Tannehill (Leon) announces his passing after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia on August 21, 2018, at 12:08am at the age of 77 years.

Leon was a 20 year Navy Veteran, serving from 1961-1981, as a TD1 (Tradevman) Aviation Simulator Technician, ensuring Navy pilots received advanced aviation training.

Leon was an avid enthusiast of many hobbies, to include Aviation, Scuba Diving, Amateur Radio, Geneology, and Antique Ship Modeling. He was an active Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints member and leader, with his highest calling as a Bishop of the Jeddah Saudia Arabia Ward. He was also a Scout Master for the LDS Boyscouts of America.

Leon is survived by his wife Judith, of 56 years and four children; Chuck (Shelly) Tannehill, David (Penny) Tannehill, Laura Tannehill, and Melissa Meyers; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Leon was preceded in death by his father (Sammy), mother (Della), eight brothers/sisters, and daughter Terri Elizabeth Tannehill.

Funeral services will be held on September 21, 2018 at 10:00am at the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale City, UT 84065.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or the Gary Sinise Foundation (www.garysinisefoundation.org) in the memory of Leon Tannehill.
