Clifford Brent Stenquist
Clifford Brent Stenquist 1958-2020 of Logan Utah and Eugene Oregon sadly has left his family and friends far too early. Born October 17th, 1958 in Tehran Iran to Lee and Alice Stenquist, Cliff was their third child. His Iranian birth was due to his parent’s foreign assignment helping the Shah of Iran attempt to rapidly modernize the country in the late 1950’s. Cliff grew up in Logan Utah, attending Logan High and graduating from Utah State University in 1984. He married Tamy Putnam in 1984, later divorced. He settled in Eugene Oregon after a brief stop in Albuquerque New Mexico, where he worked as a massage therapist for the University of Oregon track team, in addition to his own practice. He completed a master’s degree in Secondary Education from University of Oregon and taught courses in Licensed Massage therapy at Lane Community College and Central Oregon Community College.
Cliff excelled at bicycle racing going to the Utah State Championships on multiple occasions and capping his racing career by winning the Snowbird Hill Climb. He also won the Mount Evans Challenge in Colorado, a very tough race on a 14thner. He was a very talented bicycle racer. Cliff was an active outdoorsman enjoying cross country skiing, hiking and backpacking, especially trips with his younger brother Scott where they explored the Grand Canyon, Wind Rivers, and in the Colorado Rockies. Cliff also toured Europe upon graduation from Utah State, continuing his lifelong thirst for adventure.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Alice Stenquist, and survived by brothers Bill (Rochelle) Stenquist, Scott (Sarinat) Stenquist, and sisters Annette (Jeff) Smith, and Marilynn (Scott) Hampton.
