Della T. Hughes passed away on October 24, 2017 after a brief illness. The youngest of seven girls, she was born at home on the family farm in Union, Oregon on December 10, 1923. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl R. (Bowthorpe) and James Hirst Thompson, six sisters and her daughter, Barbara J. Payne.

Della is survived by son Gary B. Hughes and his wife Susan of West Valley City, daughter Claudia D. Waters of West Jordan, seven grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Many of Della’s ancestors helped settle the Salt Lake valley and her grandfather participated in building the Salt Lake Temple. She was very involved in genealogy and had traced her family back into the 1600's.
