Gary Dean Norton

Gary Dean Norton passed away peacefully at the age of 68, surrounded by family, after a long bout of dementia and a long illness on June 13th, 2022, at his home in West Valley City, Utah. Gary was born on July 22nd, 1953, to JP Norton Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Dean, in Garfield, Utah. Gary courageously joined the Navy and graduated High School through them. Gary later retired from Barnie’s Canyon Mine in early 2000’s.

Gary married Cheryl Cheek, having one son from this marriage, later divorcing. He then married Tanya Ricks, having no children, also later divorcing. Gary later married is soulmate and forever wife Tammy Alexander on April 1st, 1996. No children came from this marriage, but he became a step father to two kids.

Gary enjoyed doing his yard work, skiing, driving through old town Magna, walking anywhere, swimming and spending time w/his wife and family.

Gary is survived by his wife Tammy Norton, brother Charlie “Chuck” (Kathy) Norton, son Shane Norton, step children April Steadman and Michael (Brandy) Steadman, five grandchildren: Jamez Dean Norton Fox, Ryan Dunyon, Shaylee Lewis, Michael and Marcus Steadman, great grand puppy Luna, along with many nieces and nephews.

He has proceeded in death by his parents JP Sr. and Alice Norton and his brothers JP Jr. and younger brother Tony Norton.
