Gilbert W. Hammond

(November 26, 1963 - April 22, 2021)

It is with great sadness that the family of Gilly announces his passing on April 22, 2021, at the age of 57. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Colleen and his children, Krishna and Nickolas; by his grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends who loved him. Diagnosed with metastatic melanoma three years ago, Gil showed cancer that he was the boss and lived every day on his own terms.

Gilly met the love of his life, Colleen Mair, when they were teenagers and their love and devotion to each other grew stronger over the years. Married February 19, 1983, they raised two outstanding kids, Krishna and Nick. The family became complete with the addition of four wonderful grandchildren: Annabelle, Greysen, Damian, and Luna who love their “Papa” very much.

Gilly enjoyed travelling, music, concerts, dancing, hunting, fishing, the ocean, movies, cooking & baking for family & friends, and watching football. Go Chiefs! Gil loved being a baker and when he wasn’t baking he could be seen moving furniture for Eldridge. He was kind, caring, and passionate in everything he did.

He was preceded in death by his mother Vicki Evans, and brothers Nathan, Cory, and Stephan.

Survived by wife Colleen, daughter Krishna Woodruff, grandchildren Annabelle & Greysen; son Nickolas (Breanna), grandchildren Damian and Luna; brothers Richard & Jacob (Peggy), and sisters Debra Mair, Shelly Gines and Tammy (Ron) Maxwell.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM at Aspen Landing 6388 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123. Casual dress.
