Jack Richard Hoyle

Jack Richard Hoyle passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was 93. Jack was born on February 18, 1928, in Seattle, Washington, the second child and eldest son of John Richard and Claire Elise (Marguerat) Hoyle. On September 10, 1955, Jack married Mary Sackas in Salt Lake City. Jack graduated from Franklin High School (Seattle) in 1944. Jack was a World War II Army veteran where he served in Japan at the end of the war. In 1952, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Washington. While working for Shell Oil Company, he also attended New York University, earning a law degree in 1968. During his career, he traveled extensively. Jack retired in 1983 and he and Mary relocated to Salt Lake City. Jack was an avid reader, loved to travel, and was a connoisseur of fine wines.

Jack is survived by two brothers, Robert of Salt Lake City, and Frank of Kingston, Washington. He was much loved by his numerous family members, including nieces, nephews, great- and great-great- nieces and nephews, and many neighbors and friends who will greatly miss him. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two sisters (Helen Sturgeon, Ethel Dahl).

Burial is in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City. Services will be announced at a later date.
