“Jim” James Kirk Chadwick

September 1953-October 2020

It is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of Jim Chadwick, at the age of 67, in Kearns, Utah.

He was one of kind man who is greatly missed by all who knew him. He has been described as a beautiful, loving, kind, gentle, non-judgemental soul.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Vickie; his children Paul, Michael, Fred (Steve), Michelle

(Ray), Jackie (Ryan), Andrea, and Frankie Lee; grandchildren: Kaya, Phoenix, Tobias, Krysta, Kristina, Sophie

and Jax; Sisters: Katholyn (Byron), Melissa (Carlos); Brother: Lee (Melody); sister in law’s Denise and Ila;

many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Jim was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Ralph and Karen Marie Chadwick. He had an older sister, Katholyn. As a

child he loved to play undisturbed on the family farm. He enjoyed playing by the apple tree and exploring the

water ditch when it was dry. He wore a coon skin hat and his toy gun in the holster around his waist. He rode

horses with his dad. The family grew with two more brothers, Blake and Lee. His family moved to Hemet,

California when he was a youngster. His father built a woodshop in an airplane hanger. His dad taught him

how to build birdhouses which lead to his later love of carpentry. His youngest sister Melissa was born there.

Jim was a Hemet newspaper boy. He graduated from Hemet High School in 1972. He followed in his dad’s

footsteps and was a Finish Carpenter. He married his 1st wife and had two sons-Paul and Michael. He worked

for Fleetwood Homes in California. His father had a woodshop where Jim, his father, and brothers worked on

several projects together.

In 1986 while working in Salt Lake City, Utah Jim met Vickie. Vickie had 4 children: Alfred, Michelle, Jacklyn,

and Andrea. ​Michelle was fond of Jim and asked him to marry their mom. Jim married Vickie in Sept. 1986. He

encouraged us to be independent, to explore our world, and to have fun. As a family we enjoyed fishing,

camping, rodeos, water parks, picnics, sledding, river rafting, and laughing. He enjoyed holidays, celebrations,

parties, births, graduations, vacations, and time spent with his friends. He helped us all with our home

improvements and was always available for our emergencies. He helped us through so many difficult times in

life.

He loved being a Papa and called his grandchildren “my babies”. He had a ball teaching them to tease their

Maka. He had a way of trying to settle them down when they got too rambunctious. He had his own personal

nurse, Sophie. They loved to sit in his chair with him and relax. He was a teacher at heart and loved to share his knowledge.

Jim would say he was a legendary fisherman. He appreciated a good day fishing with lots of banter between friends. They fished local lakes and went on adventurous deep sea fishing trips.

Jim was also known for being able to tell a story, joke, and sharing a toast. He was the life of any party he

attended.

On Saturday Nov. 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM we will have a zoom type memorial service. We will notify family and

friends with this information a few days prior to the day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Blake, and brother in law-Ernie, and many other loved ones.
