Joel Dee Olson
Joel Dee Olson passed away at Grove Creek Assisted Living in Lindon, Utah on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the age of 64 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was born April 26, 1958, in Murray, Utah to Don Rex Olson and Blanche Christina Burnside.
Joel grew up in Murray, UT as an only child. He enjoyed camping, family vacations and hunting with his dad. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1977-1979 in the Colorado Denver mission. He made several life-long friendships being made with those he served.
Joel met his wife Cathy in 1980 after being introduced to each other by an aunt, who was Cathy’s co-worker. A few months later they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 8, 1981. Joel worked at Mountain Bell, which is now Century Link, for 37 years retiring in 2017.
Joel is the father to three awesome sons; Jason, Dallin, and Shad. He enjoyed camping, vacations, 4 wheeling and hunting. He always looked forward to their annual October camp out hunting trip or going to the Sand Dunes. He also enjoyed spending time with his grand-daughters, Lauren and Raegan whether it was going for walks or playing with toys.
Joel is survived by his wife, Cathy; children: Jason (Laurie), Dallin (Tiffany), and Shad (Yady); 2 grand-daughters Lauren and Raegan; 1 step grandson Alex.
A viewing will be held at Kearns South Stake Center located at 5905 South 4000 West in Kearns on Thursday, July 7th from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Graveside services will take place Friday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Taylorsville City Cemetery located at 4575 South Redwood Rd in Taylorsville.
