Leonore Kenourgios (Thomsen)

Leonore Kenourgios (Thomsen) died peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones in Bountiful, Utah on April 21st, 2017 at the age of 90.

Leonore is survived by her husband, Pete; children, Daniel, John, his former wife, Juanine, Pete Jr. his wife, Melissa, Anthony and his wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Jessica, Ariana, Niccolas, Pete, Patricia, Victoria, Isabella, Daniel, David, Ashley and Michael; great-grandchildren, Riley, Melvin, Milah, Rio, Jasmine and Rowdy.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Matilda, of San Francisco, Her parents, Daniel and Matilda, of San Francisco and her grandson, Dimitrios, of Las Vegas. Leonore was born on December 1st 1926, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Matilda and Daniel Thomsen. 


She married Pete Kenourgios, the love of her life in 1958. After moving to Monterey, California, Leonore and Pete began growing their family, Leonore was a homemaker and stayed home caring for their four sons. They moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1988. She continued caring for her family as it grew larger with Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Leonore was accomplished at crochet and often made blankets, curtains and sweaters for her loved ones. She was also a talented painter and often painted beautiful pieces her family has always cherished. 

She was an active and dedicated member at St. Olaf Catholic Church.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday, May 26th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Olaf Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at approximately 3:00 pm in the McNamara Center.

Reverend Raynato Radillas (Father Rene) will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Leonore's life.

The family would like to thank Wendy Kenourgios (her daughter-in-law) for caring for Leonore so lovingly to the last day of her life, all the people who work for Life Care Center in Bountiful who helped care for her and the wonderful staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice. 

A special thank you to all of the extended family who spent time by Leonore's side in her final days, words cannot express how much you are appreciated. Leonore will forever be in our hearts and memories.
