Marilyn Taylor Lundberg

Together again...On October 28, 2021 Marilyn Taylor Lundberg graduated from her mortal test to join her beloved husband, children, parents, siblings and other family members. She blessed our lives 2 1⁄2 years after being diagnosed with lung cancer and having part of her lung removed.

Marilyn was born June 4, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Enoch Welling Taylor and Myrna Midgley. She was the fourth of nine children born to Enoch and Myrna.

Marilyn attended Forest Elementary, Irving Jr High and South High School. She loved school and would read her older sister's school books. That's when she developed a love for reading and all things language. She loved to sing and she could harmonize with anyone. She auditioned for the acapella choir which was only opened to Juniors and Seniors and got in only being a Freshman at the time. She always wondered how her life would have been different if she had stayed in school instead of getting married.

In 1953 she married Richard Bruce Knudson. Together they had 5 children, Bruce Cole (1954-1990) Cori Ann (1956-1957) Kim Bea, Kenneth Ralph, and Karen Dawn. They later divorced. Marilyn worked hard to provide for her children.

In 1970 she married the love of her life and long time friend Robert Byron Lundberg (1936-2017). They were friends from an early age. Both Marilyn and Bob would meet at the boys and girls club. Bob boxed and Marilyn tumbled between bouts. They were friends long before they were husband and wife.

From Bob’s first marriage Theresa Lee joined the family.

In 1972 Carrie Robyn was born and our mixed family was complete.

Marilyn and Bob enjoyed traveling across the country in Bob’s 18-Wheeler during the summers with the family in tow.

After their retirement, they started going on cruises. They went on 26 cruises with family and friends. On one of their cruises, Bob suffered a stroke. Marilyn took care of him for 10 years before his passing. She would drive everyday down to the care center where Bob was to be with him after she wasn’t able to care for him at home.

Marilyn was an avid Jazz fan. She would watch every game, keeping track of each player and how many points they scored. Friends and family knew not to call or visit during a game as she wouldn’t talk with them. She would even call her friends and remind them of the upcoming games. One of her greatest joys was being able to actually attend a game in person.

In July 2019 Marilyn was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and had the upper left lobe of her lung removed. They said she had cancer in the lymph nodes and was given 6 months to live. She decided to not have any treatments for the cancer. Marilyn wanted to spend whatever time she had left in her home in Manti. She started on Hospice and had the nicest people to take care of her. Jenny, her CNA, came everyday to help her with her personal needs, cleaning the house and running to the grocery store for her. Jenny became an adopted daughter to Marilyn. They shared many fun and happy times together. Kambree, her nurse, came weekly and also became part of the family. There are others that helped Marilyn along her journey. Carl, McCade, Pat, and the rest of the Hospice team and Dr Jensen.

Marilyn also had GREAT neighbors. The Micklesons’, Ortons’, Vanleeuns’, Winchs’, were her close neighbors. They watched over Marilyn, brought her vegetables, and loved her when her family couldn’t be right there. Marilyn had wonderful friends that she played Pinochle with, went to Red Hats, and the DUP. She so enjoyed these ladies no matter what they did together. The people in Manti were a unique bunch that would often come to her house to help her with her insurance, banking, etc when she wasn’t able to go out.

Some important people in Marilyn's life were Mary Anderson, her insurance agent. Eilene and Candis, the most helpful ladies at Zions bank. Fowles lawn care service and whoever it was that shoveled her driveway in the winters. Big G Auto, that would come get her car to service it and make sure it was safe for her to drive so she could go and see Bob.

We as a family disliked it when Mom and Dad moved to Manti, but in the end there wasn’t a better place for Marilyn to be.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, 2 children and her beloved husband. She is survived by her 5 children, Kim(Pete), Terry(Jim), Ken(Ann), Karen(Mark), and Carrie(Tammy). 12 Grandkids, 14 Great Grandkids (with 2 on the way) and 2 Granddogs.

Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. As per her request there will be no funeral or graveside services.
