Mohammed “Mike” Beheshti

Mohammed “Mike” Beheshti “Bella Baba Joon”

Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2017 at his home in North Salt Lake. He was born on March 22, 1931 in Tehran, Iran. He realized his dream of a better life by coming to the United States in 1953.  He attended Brigham Young University where he met the love of his life Merlene Crafts.  They married on March 15, 1955 and remained loving and devoted best friends for 63 years. Mohammed had in insatiable appetite for philosophy, literature, languages and writing having earned Bachelor and Master’s degrees in engineering and completing all PhD coursework in Political Science and Literature.  He was fluent in 5 languages and was studying Latin when he died.  Mohammed earned his living as an aerospace engineer and was a major contributor to Apollo and Skylab projects.  Later, he was employed by Northwest pipeline and the Utah Division of Air Quality.  He presented technical papers in New York City, Canada, Paris, Russia and Egypt.  He was a wonderful person, and his family was so blessed to have his unconditional love, wisdom and friendship.  He always put the needs of others before his own and was the very definition of generosity and compassion.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Merlene Crafts Beheshti, his sons, Michael V Beheshti and Tony H Beheshti, daughter Pamela Nicole Beheshti, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and countless friends he made along the way.  He will be deeply missed by all of us and remembered forever.
