Patricia Ann Caret

Patricia Caret, known to friends as “Patty,” passed away with her family by her side on September 15, 2019, after a 7 year battle with Leukemia. Patty will be forever remembered for her generous heart and inspiring strength. She fiercely and unconditionally loved her husband of 45 years and best friend Gary, their daughter Sarah, son-in-law Joe, and precious grandson Charlie.

Patty was born to parents George Roderick Landwehr and Anastasia Pearson McLean, in New York City and had two close siblings, Roderick and Gretchen. She graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine, obtained her teaching degree from the University of Maine, and earned her masters later in life. Whether in a classroom, tutoring one-on-one or even at a museum, she was tireless in helping children find their true potential as life-long learners.

Patty found comfort in nature and moved to the solitude of remote Machias, Maine with Gary to start her life as a mother. She raised Sarah by the calm of the ocean in Cape Porpoise and also spent years in the verdant mountains of Bryant Pond, Maine. She moved from Maine to Utah with Gary to pursue their long-time dream of skiing bottomless powder in the expanse of the Wasatch mountains. Wherever her heart led her, Patty's contagious enthusiasm enriched the lives of those around her. Her kindness drew people to her and her patience kept them close. She had a passion for the outdoors and found joy in travel, discovery, and adventure. Her joy is a lasting gift to those she loved.

Memorial donations in Patty's honor can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
