Reuel McMillian Jones

Reuel McMillian Jones. Beloved husband, father and friend passed peacefully to the next life on Sunday, July 17 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Reuel suffered a stroke on June 21 from which he never recovered. The youngest of five children, Reuel was born to loving parents, George Massie Jones Jr and Ida Jane Andrews Jones on July 30, 1947 in Loma Linda, California. He was raised in San Bernardino, California. He graduated from Pacific High School. Reuel attended Brigham Young University and in 1966 served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Sao Paulo Brazil. On March 9, 1971 Reuel married Jo Anne Gerstner in the Salt Lake Temple. They would have 7 children and live in Hyrum, Utah, Southwest Missouri, Salt Lake City, Utah, Fallbrook, CA and Citrus Heights, CA. Reuel worked as a USDA meat inspector and entered into the computer programming field just as personal computers were becoming common in the early 80’s. He later worked for the state of California. He was also interested in Audio Visual equipment and video production. In 2002 Reuel and JoAnne separated and divorced officially in 2005. On May 25, 2005 Reuel married Ana Cristina Tobias Caneiro of Brasilia, Brazil. Reuel and Ana lived in Brasilia, Brazil for 10 years and recently moved back to Utah residing in West Valley City. They were sealed in the Bountiful Temple on April 22, 2014.Above all else Reuel loved his family, especially his beloved wife Ana who loved him and cared for him throughout their marriage. Reuel always held a special place in his heart for the people of Brazil. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints and was an avid student of all things church related. He was a gifted scriptorian and his greatest joys came from studying the gospel, church history and serving in the church. He loved exotic birds and animals. He enjoyed following current events and was a great teacher and conversationalist. He was a lifelong BYU sports fan and followed them even while living in Brazil. Reuel was preceded in death by his father, mother, his sister Wanda Jones and brother Duane Jones. He is survived by his wife Ana, brother Ross Jones and sister Dawn Tarbox, daughter Andrea Traci Hainsworth (Jason) of Spokane, WA, daughter Amy Elizabeth Henke (David) of Salt Lake City, UT daughter Rebekah Anne Callahan (Matt) of Flower Mound, TX, son George Benjamin Jones (Amy) of Roseville, CA, son Jethro Dean Jones (Staci) of Kodiak, AK, Gideon Daniel Jones (Rebecca) of Sacramento, CA and Nathan Andrew Jones (Elisabeth) of SLC, Ut. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren who he loved dearly and prayed for daily. He will now be their angel on the other side of the veil. A viewing will be held Friday, July 22 at 9:45 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located at 6253 W 6200 S West Valley City, UT 84118. He will be laid to rest at the Elysian Gardens Cemetery in Millcreek UT
