Roger “Mel” Yetter passed away in his sleep on June 29, 2017 in South Jordan, UT. Mel was born on October 10, 1931 in Denver, CO. His parents were Lionel Prestley Yetter and Elizabeth Vera Mitchell Yetter. His father was killed in a street fight when Mel was five years old. They had no insurance so five children had to be split up, the two oldest went with grandparents, and the two youngest went to the Denver Orphan’s Home, Mel went to a boy’s home named Clayton College. He was the littlest among two hundred boys. He always said “I learned quickly how to defend myself and make friends with the toughest kid in the dorm.”
Mel spent ten years at Clayton College and finally ran away in 1947 and he continued to be an active member of the alumni association in organizing reunions and penned their quarterly newsletter for years. He got special permission to put three plagues together listing all the three hundred boys names that had been enrolled at the school. In 1948 Mel joined the US Army for three years and was extended one more year when the “Korean Police Action” came on. Mel was in the chemical corps as a military policeman and later as an administrative clerk and was sent to Deseret Chemical Depot out at Dugway in Utah. Mel was Honorably Discharged in 1952.
Mel founded “Yetter Pest Control, Inc.” in 1972 and was active in Pest Control and sat on the Board of Missouri Pest Control Association for sixteen years. He was a Vice President and served on the Board of the World Pest Control as a Secretary/Treasurer for two years.
Mel was married three times, his first wife was Blanche Taylor, they had five children, two boys and three girls, Marvin, Brenda, Roger, Judy and Rhonda. He has 46 grandchildren. His second wife was JoAnn and they had two children, Greg and Kelly, and two grandchildren. He has 41 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
They lived in Cameron, MO. His wife Joan Bradley passed in 2011 and Mel came to Utah to be by his children here in Utah in 2014. In August 2015 he married his third wife, Sandy Brown has 7 children, 29 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, she was with him until he passed at his home in South Jordan.

Friday Visitation (7/7/2017) Begins at 1030 AM.

Friday visitation will be held at 4950 S 1950 W Taylorsville, UT 84123. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with Funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm.
A Color Guard service at Camp Williams (17800 Camp Williams Road, Riverton, UT 84065) will begin at 2 p.m. Mel will be interred at the same cemetery where his two sons, Marvin and Roger who preceded him in death are laid to rest. Following the Color Guard service at Camp Williams there will be a luncheon at South Jordan 9th Ward at 3:00pm. The address is 9750 S 2200 W, South Jordan, UT 84095.
