Barbara Aileen Clark

Barbara Aileen Clark passed away on Tuesday, November 15th surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer in March of 2021 and given less than a year to live, but fought it for 18 months. We were incredibly grateful to have the extra time with her.

Barbara was born on February 5th, 1970, she was the youngest of her three siblings; Tami Stephenson and Bruce Clark. She never had kids of her own, she took such great pride in being the fun aunt, which she absolutely was. Her niece, Nicole Stephenson, took care of her at home during the last 18 months of her life; even with her limited mobility she still maintained the proud title of being the fun aunt. She also had 2 nephews, another niece, and great nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Barbara was a fiercely strong, spontaneously adventurous, and beautifully independent woman. She took a lot of pride in who she was and what she did. She bought her family house and put a lot of time and love into fixing it up, she was also a professional driver at Maxway Trucking and loved all of her coworkers.

The most important thing in life for Barbara was to make memories with everyone she loved - both family and friends. She was known for taking spontaneous road trips to Montana, or to a hot spring, and would invite you at the last minute to join her.  She enjoyed going to Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous every year, she loved dressing up as an old Fur Trader and camping with all of her friends. She was often the camp cook, and made incredible food.

Barbara lived in Meeker, Colorado during her late teens and early 20's - she never stopped talking about all of the wonderful adventures and people she met during her time there. Colorado was a huge part of who she was, and she always dreamed of moving back.

She had a truly adventurous soul, and wanted to share her adventures with everyone around her. Although she is no longer with us her stories and memories will live on.

"But it was never for her

To stand still in quiet places.

She was too fierce to be ordinary.

Too wild.

Too in love with untraveled tracks".
