Burton Daniel Ferguson
Burton Daniel Ferguson, beloved to all who knew him, returned to his Father in Heaven at the age of 33 on Sunday, May 14th, 2017. His death surprised many, as he chose to live out his life as normally as possible—revealing his declining health to only a few.
Although Burt delighted in the simple things—such as family time, snowboarding, horseback riding, hosting game nights, video games, and playing guitar—he lived a life full of zest and adventure. He always loved experiencing travel and culture across the world. All who knew him enjoyed his light-hearted personality and fun teasing demeanor. Burt loved to laugh and enjoyed comedy in all its forms, from practical jokes, to comedy films and comedians. Burt loved living on the lighter side of life. He was a joy to be around.
Burton was born September 21, 1983, in Lansing, Michigan to Daniel Duane Ferguson (Father) and Eileen Hansen Ferguson (Mother). Travelling with his family he lived in Guadalajara, Mexico; where he attended elementary school. In Provo, Utah, he attended Timpview High School and was a member of the competitive ballroom dance team, where he developed life-long friendships. He spent two summers volunteering with orphanages in Romania and traveling eastern Europe. During this time, he diligently worked to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout with The Boy Scouts of America.
After graduating high school, he and his parents moved to Pittsburg, Kansas; as usual, he made many friends and became a self-proclaimed “ladies man” in the young adult congregation at his church. The many hours Burt enjoyed with the local missionaries assigned to his Kansas community inspired him to serve his own full-time mission. He was called to serve in the Santo Domingo West Dominican Republic Mission. His fluent Spanish and great love for the Dominican people and Latino cultures, earned him the nickname "Gringo Latino" among his friends. Burton never hesitated to share his love for the Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout his life, in word and action.
Following his mission, Burt worked in Anchorage, Alaska; and returned to Salt Lake City, Utah for school. He graduated with an Associates Degree in Accounting from LDS Business College, and later from the University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business, a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting with Honors. He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Accounting Honors Fraternity.
He was a hard-worker, and loving provider, and cared greatly for his colleagues and friends at Extra Space Storage, Cottonwood Residential, Towers Watson, and The Lion House.
Over the years, Burton faithfully served the Lord in many capacities within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: as a missionary, in the Elders Quorum Presidency, as a primary teacher, and within his beloved family.
Burton loved his wife and children with all his heart, and frequently said they were the best thing that ever happened to him. His great love extended to all of his family. Savanna Franceen Lee Ferguson (Wife), McKinlee Anne Ferguson (Daughter), Jacob McCoy Ferguson (Son), Dan and Eileen Ferguson (Parents), and Emily, Elizabeth, David and April (Vinton) Ferguson (Siblings) look forward to seeing him again someday.

A memorial fund has been established by Burt’s work family at Extra Space Storage. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the memorial fund for the care and financial support of his family.

Funeral Date and Time: Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 am. (Private Family Viewing at 9 am, Public Viewing at 10 am).
Services will be held at 6175 W Borax Ave, Kearns, UT 84118.
Burial place: Riverton City Cemetery - 1500 W 13200 S, Riverton, UT 84065
