Dan Wilson

Dan Wilson passed away peacefully in Ogden, Utah on August 26th, 2021, at the age of 74.

Dan was raised in Hamersville, Ohio. After high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Marianna. Together they had three children, Steve, Lisa, and David. The family lived in Ohio and Alaska, then made their home in Utah. Though they parted ways, Dan and Marianna remained life-long friends.

From a young age, Dan knew he wanted to practice law. At 12 years old, he would ride his bicycle several miles to the county courthouse to watch court proceedings. The judge took notice and gave Dan tours of the courthouse and would answer his questions. Also at this age, his older brother Whitey helped him buy, fix-up, and sell his first car; making his first $100. These two passions: the law and cars, stayed with Dan his whole life. He practiced injury law in Utah for 37 years. He helped many clients, made many friends, and was a constant source of help and advice to all who knew him.  Not even Dan knows how many cars, trucks, or boats he’s bought and sold through the years.

Dan was employed by GE for many years, and then worked at Hill Air Force base as an engineer working on missile technology.  Years of hard work, study, and dedication paid off in 1988, when he earned his Juris Doctor through Oklahoma City University.  Dan had a successful and very fulfilling career doing what he absolutely loved.

The last 14 years were spent with his wife, Bobbie Jensen, in St. George and Ogden. They were a couple who were meant to be together and complimented each other in the best ways. His proven, tested, no nonsense way of thinking got sprinkled with some fairy-tale ideas, and I think some of it stuck. Dan was an intelligent, clever, fun guy to be around. His heart was as big as the moon, and he never missed an opportunity to help anyone who happened to cross his path. He loved to travel, especially to the national parks and Maui.

Dan treasured his friendships, and he was a loyal and generous friend in return. He would want to thank Jerry Shepherd, Scott Nance, Heather Smith, Scotty Van Leeuwen, Tony and Tio Vigil, Larry Sturgill, and many others for their friendship; you each meant so much to him. He was greeted on the other side by one of his best friends, Don Amidan.

Dan is survived by his wife, Bobbie, children: Steve, Lisa (Dan), David (Robin), bonus kids: Jessica, Emily, Vinny, Michelle, and Lisa, grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Sierra, Sydney, Lindsey, Tyler, Sam, Sawyer, along with Jack, Luka and Kade, sister; Sandy, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hunter and Olive, sisters Jill and Nancy, and brothers Whitey and Mike.

A special thank you to Emily and Vinny, Jessica, Hannah, and Susan for the help and care you’ve given to my Danny and me these past few months.

We will miss you, Dan Wilson. You made a lasting impact on so many…
