DIANE MCELROY, 69, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away suddenly, although peacefully in her home November 28, 2020. 

She was born and raised in Southern California. Early in life first with family and intimate friends it was clear, if ever a person was born to entertain and delight that was Diane. She was an enchanting soul. Later in school, encouraged by drama teachers, she found her voice and spirit channeling her inner Liza Minnelli. In her early life, surrounded by her own family, she had opportunity because of her various talents of writing plays, choreography, singing and dancing for many extraordinary experiences, like performing in Las Vegas. 

Diane’s performing arts appreciation proved an influencing factor for generations of her closest relatives that also enjoy the arts by singing, dancing and performing themselves.

During a lifetime of second acts, Diane volunteered in Oregon for many non-profit organizations that included writing, choreography and performing in charity shows raising money for women’s shelters. Years later, she was inspired in Utah to take up painting. Over three thousand unique pieces she painted that would have made any mother proud. 

Perhaps her most fortuitously timed meeting was to her soul mate Mark in Reno, Nevada about 33 years ago. Over the years they had the curiosity of exploration with travel including some favorite trips to New York City that engulfed their hearts taking in Broadway shows with all that the city has to offer that takes your breath away.  From music festivals to film festivals together they enjoyed adventure and was hard pressed to miss Pink Floyd perform across the country. Not surprisingly, they enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors in Utah. 

Diane was an avid journalist, a good listener and on occasion a noble communicator of wise life advice.  Few people have the chance to check off all their bucket list wishes or feel they have lived a “fabulous life”, however, Diane believed she had a plethora of life’s good fortune and found grace and inner peace through Buddhism.
