Elwin Pugmire Arnell

Elwin Pugmire Arnell, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on his 95th birthday, October 6, 2019, surrounded by 7 sons, 1 daughter, and their spouses. He anxiously anticipated a sweet reunion with his wife, Aileen Arnell, who passed in November of 2018.

Elwin was born on October 6, 1924 to William Stanley Arnell and Lanore Pugmire Arnell in Lifton, Idaho. He served in the Army during World War II. Upon his return, he married Aileen in the Logan, UT temple on August 9, 1946. Together they raised eight children.

Elwin loved his Savior and actively served in numerous callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and commitment to his Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. Many of Elwin’s happiest moments were spent in the mountains riding horses and hunting. He cherished the peace and serenity he found while observing the Lord’s creations. 

He is survived by seven sons, David (Kay Lynn) of Kaysville, Utah, Dennis (Debbie) of American Fork, Utah, Blake (Connie) of Farmington, Utah, Kirk (Linda) Farmington, Utah, Blair (Debbie) American Fork, Utah, Mark (Laurie) of Saint Louis, Missouri, Glen (Renee) of Saratoga Springs, Utah and one daughter, Joy Hawkes (Mark) of Madison, South Dakota, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday, October 13th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah. Viewing services will take place at the same location on Monday, October 14th from 9:30- 10:30 am. Funeral service will take place after at 11:00 am. Interment will be Bountiful City Cemetery.
