On the morning of June 6, 2019, Fredrick Alvin Carl Hopkins passed away peacefully, at the age of 81, in the presence of his family.

Fred spent his youth in Logandale, Nevada, before joining the Marine Corps at the age of 17. After serving 9 years in California and Japan, he moved to Southern Utah where he met and married Pam Blake. Together they had four children. They later divorced. In June of 1986, Fred married Wandanell Walsh Harper who had two young children. They lived in Southern Utah until 2013 when they retired to Heber City, Utah.

Fred had the opportunity to work in several fun and rewarding fields before settling on private security. He was milking cows as a teenager, was a radio DJ while he was still a young man, and was driving school bus when he married Wandanell. Fred's favorite route was driving the kindergarten bus. The kids all called him Freddy Baby. All the kindergartners loved him and he loved them right back. In fact, every year at Christmas he would give each child on his kindergarten bus a small gift.

Fred loved serving his community. He spent years as a member of the Washington County Search and Rescue and as a reserve deputy. He also volunteered as bailiff for the Washington County Courts. In his later years Fred took up baking and would make the sacrament bread for church each week. During the holidays he would bake loaves of various breads for each person in their apartment building.

Fred had a talent for making people feel special. Soon after joining his ward in Heber City, he was called to be the door greeter for sacrament meeting. It wasn't long before he could greet almost every member of the ward by name.

Fred is survived by his eternal companion and love of his life, Wandanell "Mel", children Jeffery Clark Pace, Fredrick Scott (Linda) Pace, Emily Kaylene Pace, Nathan William (Lynette) Pace, step-children Jeremy D. (Sothea) Harper, Amy (Christopher) Reeves, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held on Saturday, June 15th, 2019, at 2395 South Mill Road in Heber City, Utah. The viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am and the funeral will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service for family and anyone traveling.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17th, 2019 at the Logandale Cemetery in Logandale, Nevada. The service will start at 10:00 am Nevada time.

The funeral home has asked for any flowers to be sent to either the church or cemetery directly.
