James E. Bruce, Sr.
JAMES E BRUCE, SR –AGE 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He left this world with a smile on his face, possibly seeing the love of his life and soul-mate, Lucille D Bruce, waiting on the other side for him after all these years.
James was born on August 1, 1935 in Akron OH to Franklin and Margery Bruce. He joined the US Air Force when he was eighteen. He married the love of his life, Lucille Dailey Bruce in 1960. He was a navigator the Air force and flew all over the world. He retired as a Lt Col on August 1, 1995. He and his wife, Lucy, enjoyed 18 years of traveling the country and Canada as a long distance truck driver duo before he retired around 2001. He loved learning. He was a kind and caring man, with a huge heart, always lending a helping hand to those he saw in need. In his later years, he loved his family visiting him, long conversations on the phone, and playing Sudoku or reading, with Andy Griffith reruns playing on the television. He was much loved, and will be extremely missed by his family and friends.
He was a beloved father of three: James Bruce, Jr, (Cheyenne, WY), Bonnie Marson (Brooklyn, CT) and Marjorie Hoover (Lexington, SC); grandfather to Michael Marson (Norwich, CT) and Steven Marson (Gainesville, FL), Ryan Hoover (Ladson, SC) and Laura Hoover(Lexington, SC), Zachary and Rachel Bettey and James Bruce III –all of Cheyenne WY; He was predeceased by two of his brothers: Frank Bruce (Akron, OH) and Don Bruce (Akron OH). Surviving siblings are Juanita Smith (Akron, OH), Phyllis Stewart (Akron, OH), Lillian Capperelli (Akron, OH), Delvin Bruce(Akron, OH), and Judy Bruce (Akron, OH), Father-in-law to Timothy Hoover (Lexington, SC), Becky Bruce (Cheyenne WY), and Ken Harris (Brooklyn, CT). He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
We will have a special military service for him in Arlington, VA, where he will be laid to rest. The date is still unknown, but will be shared with family and all who would like to attend.
