August 15, 1966 - June 12, 2017

 

 James Edward Thurman Jr. “Jimmy”, our loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away on June 12th, 2017.

 Jimmy was born August 15th, 1966 in Oakland, California to Jim and Eleanor Thurman.  Jimmy attended Granger High School and was a member of the Army National Guard.  

 Jimmy’s greatest joy was being a father to Cristian and Sahvannah, they were his pride and joy and the loves of his life. Jimmy loved spending time with his children doing homework,camping or just watching their favorite shows.

 Jimmy had many friends who enjoyed his outgoing personality and kind, giving heart. Jimmy was a hard worker and was always willing to help anyone in need. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and football. Jimmy was an animal lover and had several beloved pets over the years.

 Jimmy struggled throughout his life with addiction and alcoholism. Jimmy fought hard and achieved sobriety several times. In the end he was drawn back down by the addiction that took him on a long, dark, and difficult journey that has now taken his life.

 Jimmy is survived by his parents; Jim and Eleanor Thurman, children Cristian and Sahvannah Thurman,mother of his children Britanie Ferguson, sister Jane (Greg) Amos, brother  Bill (Rabecca) Thurman and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

 The family would like to thank his friend Sindy for her love and support.

 A memorial to celebrate the life of Jimmy will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 from 2:00pm to 6:00 pm at his brother Bill’s home. All friends and family are invited.
