James Ray Thayne, who lived a long and fulfilling of 88 years, passed away on April 28 th 2018, in his home next to his wife Colleen Thayne in Taylorsville. Jim is survived by his wife Colleen Thayne, son Jason Thayne, and his daughter in-law Vanessa, He is preceded in death by his father and mother Elmer & Alice Guymon Thayne; brothers and sisters: Harold Thayne, Ione Ware, Bonnie Howell, Ruth Hughes, and Perry Thayne.
Jim was born on March 4 th 1930 in La Jara, CO to parents Elmer & Alice Thayne. He graduated from Pasadena Play House College of Acting in Hollywood, CA with a degree bachelor of Arts. Jim served our country in the Air Force and later became an actor in Hollywood. Jim was an entrepreneur at heart and had his own Italian Restaurant and construction business. Jim was a great family man and a loving father. He married Colleen Thayne in December 17 th 1975 and Sealed in the San Diego Temple in July 17 th 1991. They were blessed with 1 son together; Jason Thayne. Jim was a social, active man who was deeply involved in music and service for the majority of his life. He enjoyed singing, reading, cooking, servicing others, loved animals and full-feeling his callings in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His family and friends will always remember him as a
kind, caring, loving, spiritual and honorable man.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd 2018, at 1 pm at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park; 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life. Following will be a lite lunch provided by the Herriman 2nd Ward; 5246 West 12445 South, Herriman, UT.
