Janice Elaine Laney

In Loving Memory of Janice Elaine Laney

Janice was born to the late Roland C. and Frances M. Laney in Bristol, PA, on May 4, 1958.  On the morning of June 13th, Janice peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Janice grew up in Brigham City, UT after the family moved there.  Upon graduating from Box Elder High School in 1976, she went to work for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office as an Information Services Specialist until she retired in 2009.  A few years later she went to work for CMC Flex as a receptionist/clerk until she passed away.  She made many friends along the way during her employment and will be greatly missed.

Janice carried a sweet spirit within her heart for those who came across her path in life.  She always had a listening ear and a desire to help and serve.  Janice had three great loves in her life …. a love for her Lord, a love of music and a love for children.  Her love for children had her serving as a Sunday School teacher at Evangelical Free Church with her close friend, Sheryl Geoghan.  Her love of music and song had her participating in the Laney Trio, a ladies sextet group from EV Free, and the choirs at both EV Free and First Baptist WVC.  In the past few years, she would make trips up to Brigham City with her childhood friend, Beth Hickox, to serve in the soup kitchen at the Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, Roland C. and Frances M. Laney, and her sister, Brenda Anderson.

She is survived by her siblings:  Helen, Doreen Berd, Sandra, Rebecca and Richard; her nieces and nephews:  Jerahmy Laney, Carrie Summers, Linda Anderson (Rocky), William Anderson (Angela), Damin Anderson and Casey Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 9th, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 3831 S. 2700 W., West Valley City, UT.  Following will be a Celebration Potluck where everyone will be invited to share their anecdotes about Janice.
