Jimmy Dean Begay “Dino/Dean” (May 30,1968 – October 30, 2020)

Jimmy Dean Begay, father, son, brother, friend and lifelong resident in Salt Lake City, Utah passed away at the age of 52 years old on Friday, October 30, 2020. Dean was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Dean Begay Sr., daughter Shirleen Begay, sister Katrina Tso, brother Del Shannon Lee, Aunt Ella Mae Dodson and grandparents Carl and Lena Dodson also of Kaibeto, AZ.

Dean was born in Phoenix, Arizona on May 30, 1968 to Jimmy Dean Begay Sr. of Blue Gap, AZ. and Elsie Dodson of Kaibeto, AZ.

He graduated from East High School ((Salt Lake City, UT.) in 1986. Through the years he worked as a managing cook at several eating establishments in the Salt Lake City valley. He was also known as a self-taught, skilled mechanic. He took pride in repairing and maintaining his vehicles. When he was not working, he enjoyed grilling, mountain biking and spending time with his family. He found peace in taking road trips to visit family members on the Navajo Reservation and New Mexico. His favorite place to visit was Lake Powell and scenic Monument Valley. He also enjoyed mountain biking in Moab, UT. and along the trails of the Wasatch Front. He had numerous cherished friends whom he met through the years. He loved to laugh, make jokes and hang out with them all.

Dean is survived by his mother, Elsie Dodson Lee, his children Ricky Begay (Houston, TX), Danielle E. Begay (Phoenix, AZ.), Darnell Reese (Oljeto, UT.), Kristie, Dina, Nicole, Gordon Begay (Salt Lake City, UT.), brother Roland Lee (Salt Lake City, UT.), and sister Penny Lee (Salt Lake City, UT.). With many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Under the circumstances of these difficult times, his children and family members have decided to have a Celebration of Life for Dean at a later date when we are all safer and able to gather.

His burial will be limited to immediate family on Friday, November 13, 2020 at noon. His final resting place will be next to his brother Del Lee at Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, UT.
