Joyce M. Bowden
December 13, 1928 - September 4, 2019
Bountiful, Utah

Our beautiful mother, Joyce M. Bowden passed away on September 4, after a brief but valiant fight with Burkitt Lymphoma. She was born on December 13, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Daniel R. and Dolly W. Dickens. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1946, and took courses at Weber College. She was working at the Fred M. Nyes when she met Blaine Bowden, whom she married on June 25, 1949 at the Ogden Presbyterian Church. They became parents to four children, and built a home and lovely life in the Bountiful foothills.

In 1966, she went to work at Zions First National Bank as a teller and retired as a Vice President in 1993. She thoroughly enjoyed her time working at Zions. Joyce took immense pride in her home; she was dedicated to their beautifully landscaped yard and tastefully decorated interiors. She was known for vacuuming perfect footprint-free lines in the living room carpet and hosting fabulous gatherings for her family. In retirement, Joyce loved to visit with her children and grandchildren, playing bridge with Blaine, their neighbors, and her sister Beryl, reading, and evening television.

She was a supportive and humble matriarch of our family. She believed in and loved all of her children and grandchildren dearly – she always took interest in their lives, lauded their achievements, and offered words of encouragement.

She is survived by her husband Blaine, her children Natalie Earle, Utah; Suzette (Ken) Onstad, North Carolina; Marc (Rosie) Bowden, California; and Lisa Hunt, Utah; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert and Douglas, and her beloved sister Beryl.
