Kevin Leigh Shawcroft
It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Leigh Shawcroft announces his passing on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021 at the age of 56. Kevin was diagnosed with stage 4 Thyroid Cancer in Feb. of this year. He fought hard but toward the end the pain was stealing his love of life.
Kevin was born in LaJara, CO on March 19, 1965. He developed a great love of trains at an early age. The train tracks were across the highway where we lived. No matter if it was the diesel engine or the steam engine passing by, he was out at the fence waving. The engineers blew the whistle for him as they passed by. Chasing trains became a big part if his free time.
His early years were growing up in LaJara and Alamosa, CO, attending grade school and Jr. High. He was living in Worland, WY thru his high school years.
Kevin was an Electrician at Barrick Gold Strike mines, a Volunteer Fireman and EMT with the Carlin, NV fire and ambulance, a son, a brother, a grandson, a father, a grandpa, a cousin, a nephew and a friend to all who met him or worked with him. He was a lover of trains and motorcycles, an avid Denver Broncos fan, bled blue and orange, he was a tease and a prankster. He loved to make people laugh, was full of life and laughter himself. He was incredibly brave in his fight for his life thru the months he suffered with cancer. He never lost his sense of humor up to the end.
Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Marylee Myers, his father Kay D. Shawcroft (step mother, Cle Rae), sisters Leanne (Mike) Westman, Valerie Vice, step sister Sonda (Tom) Strozza, step brother Cameron (Sarah) Humphries, his son Bryan Shawcroft, step daughters Lacee (James) Woods, Renee Ward, 7 grandchildren, Chloe, Aleeyana, Olivia, Bryson Woods, Bentlee, Rylee and Averee Ward, his best friend and adopted brother Leroy Gall, his honorary son Levi Scully, his sisters children Ashley Vice, Colton and Dylan Shawcroft, great nephews, Nick and Emmitt, and great niece Kaylee. Also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, many cousins and extended families, a world full of friends and co workers.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Amel and Zelda Shawcroft, George and Florence Myers, his nephew Brandon Vice, and many extended family members.
Kevin requested to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be next summer, both in Carlin, NV and then in the San Luis Valley of CO. We will let everyone know plans for his Memorial when all families can come together.
