Marietta Joe
With deep sadness, on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, Ms. Marietta Joe, passed away suddenly at the age of 67 years old.
She was born June 29, 1953 in Dennehotso, Arizona eventually moving to Salt Lake City, Utah. Many years were shared with her only child, Jacqueline Yazzie, at her side, just the two of them. They were a packaged deal, supporting each other until the end.
Marietta will forever be remembered as a hardworking, devoted mother and beloved grandmother to her 6 grandchildren Temesha Harrison, TaShae Williams, Teyonna Harrison, Taurus Dickerson, Terrell Dickerson and Dayvon Dickerson; as well as a doting great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren.
Marietta was a loving, forgiving, and caring person, always thinking of others. Gift giving was her specialty along with cooking for her family, specifically Navajo cuisine. Her strong belief in charity and serving others was demonstrated throughout her life. Although she struggled later in her years with health issues, she was never one to complain. Her strength was admirable, and her pride was in her family and close friends. Laughter, jokes and conversation were her medicine of choice.
Being a faithful member of The Church of Latter Day Saints, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace with our Heavenly Father. She also took pride in the Native American traditions and culture that molded her. Her generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness made her a great example. She prayed daily and loved deeply. She leaves behind many cherished memories alongside her dearest friends and family.
Memorial Services were held at Kramer Family Funeral Home in West Valley City, Utah on Monday afternoon, July 20th, 2020. Leading in prayer was Bishop Gary Healy. She was surround by the love of her close family. We were blessed to call her Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She will be forever in our hearts!
