Panesi Jr, Carl Richard (Rick)

It is with great sadness that the family of Rick Panesi announces his passing on February 11 after taking suddenly ill for a short time and eventually succumbing to bile duct cancer at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah Panesi, three children: Karleen Wagner (Tim), Megan Zitek (Dave), C. Richard Panesi III, and five grandchildren. Rick was predeceased by his sister, Carole Somer.

Rick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Rick loved family above all and was dedicated to taking care of family. Rick loved to camp and would often take his family on extended trips with their pop-up trailer. He was especially interested in the ghost towns of Colorado and the famous Route 66. Through the years, Rick traded in the camper experience for day trips or extended weekends with his wife to the Southwestern states. During these numerous trips, he enjoyed taking pictures of his family and the scenery. Rick loved to complete a variety of DIY projects that enhanced the home. He loved to cook and was the chef of the house. Homemade ravioli and homemade ice cream were among his favorites. When he wasn’t cooking or working on projects, Rick loved to work in the yard planting flowers and taking care of the yard. Rick loved playing and listening to music. He would often play his organ for family and encourage sing alongs. He also loved telling stories about his high school and college days. He was a wonderful storyteller who would describe his memories in great detail and humor. Rick was not a man of many words, but expressed his love through his acts. He loved playing with his grandchildren and attending their various activities when he could.

Cremation at Kramer Family Funeral. Plans for a memorial service to take place in Colorado will be in July and his ashes spread over Kenosha Pass, a personal favorite of his. The family is grateful for the services of Inspiration Hospice in the last days of his life and in lieu of flowers, please donate to this organization.
