Robert Dale Bain July 19,1954 – June 10,2022

Robert Dale Bain peacefully passed away on June 10, 2022. He had been under the compassionate care of the wonderful people at Paramount Health and Rehabilitation, for which kindness we will be forever grateful.

Rob was born on July 19, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the first child of Dale and Lois Bain. He would be followed by 4 siblings born every 2 years for the next 8 years, Janet, Donnie, Mark and Kari. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.

Becoming an avid snow and water skier, a talented baseball player and even trying his skills as a tumbler, Rob learned how to get tremendous joy out of life. He was a great musician and became an accomplished guitar player. Rob loved anything rock and roll. One could always hear the music of The Doors, The Grass Roots, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles – all the golden oldies – coming from the the vinyl records being played on the turntable in his bedroom. He had an extraordinary collection of records.

Rob was fiercely independent, leaving home at the age of 19 after his graduation from High School. He was a hard worker, his first job being the manager of ‘the candy aisle’ at the family drug store, Key Rexall, in Sandy Utah. He was very personable, and as such, did very well working retail. He later became a store manager for Radio Shack.

Rob married Kelly Bates and they became the parents of 2 sons, Brandon and Cameron. He joined the Air Force and moved with Kelly to Asheville, North Carolina, where he was stationed. Rob loved his country and remained true to his service until he passed. He and Kelly were later divorced.

He later married Mary Gilbert with whom he had a beautiful daughter, Nicole. They were later divorced.

Health afflictions followed Rob throughout his life. He struggled with addiction, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis and valiantly strived to overcome and deal with them as best he could. As Rob grew older and his health began to decline rapidly, rather than become grumpy, and angry, he became a gentle soul. Everyone who knew Rob in his last years, loved him. You could never say good-bye to Rob without him telling you he loved you. When his health declined to the point he could no longer live alone, he moved in with his brother Mark, who provided angelic, Christlike care.  When Mark’s own health became such that he could no longer care for Rob, the heart wrenching decision was made to move Rob to Paramount. Upon Rob’s arrival there, and discovering the extraordinary care he was receiving, that decision was never second guessed. When Mark passed on May 15 th , it became more than Rob’s fragile body could handle, and he joined Mark only 26 days later.

Rob will always be remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to make people laugh. He is having a joyous, probably a little bit rowdy, family reunion with his parents and his brothers, Donnie and Mark.

A graveside memorial and celebration of Rob’s life will be held on July 19 th , Rob’s birthday, at 10:00 AM at the Murray City Cemetery.
