Scott Jay Smith

Scott Jay Smith; father, brother and son, passed away on October 27, 2020 of cancer.
He was born on October 12, 1959 to William Jay and H. Lucile (Fronk) Smith and lived his early life in Sunset Utah.
He attended Davis County Schools where upon graduating from Clearfield High, enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he returned home to Sunset where he began the next phase of his life.
He sold cars at Nunley’s Auto Sales, drove trucks and finished his working career at Furbreeders Coop in Salt Lake City
In his early years he played baseball. His biggest fan was his dad who could be seen in the bleachers cheering him on. Later on he developed a passion for racing. He along with family and friends built a drag racing car and raced it. He then moved to building and racing modified race cars. His #34 black modified race car was beautiful to behold. In the last few years of his life he along with his daughter Brittany could be found target shooting at various gun ranges in the west.
Scott can best be known for working hard in whatever he chose to do. He lived his life as he saw fit irregardless of what any one thought, said or did.
Scott is survived by his daughters Ashley Cox Sharp and Brittany Cox, four brothers and two sisters. They are Chuck (Linda), Dean (Cindy), Dale (Betty), Robert (Diana), Sheri and Evelyn (Wally Woolsey).
Scott was appreciative of Brittany who took such good care of him during his struggle with cancer and to Norm and Marian Cox for welcoming him into their home during the last months of his life.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In lieu of a funeral and to honor his wishes, a celebration of Scott’s life will be held in the spring.
