Steven L. Kehl

Steven L. Kehl unexpectedly passed away at his home on October 11, 2019.  Steven was born in SLC on January 14, 1950. He was the first of three children born to Jack C. Kehl and Beth Lamb Kehl.  On May 13, 2019 he married Imsuna Song.

Survivors include his wife Imsuna, his sister Joan Carling and her husband Ronald Carling and their two sons David and Erik.  He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother Don J. Kehl.

Steven battled major health challenges beginning in his early twenties.  He was a cancer survivor and embraced life head on.

Steven had an entrepreneurial spirit and was always dabbling in one special project or another.   His very large and woodsy back yard with its water spring and fire pit was his sanctuary. He loved being out doors and spending time with nature.  Canyon Lands was a favorite haunt of his and his camping buddies and together they shared awesome adventures and created lots of fun memories.

During his work career, Steven worked as a CDL truck driver for both Sinclair Oil and Basin Western.  Steven was proud of his safety record and was often dispatched to make the more logistically challenging deliveries.  He was also employed by Sinclair and most recently by Chevron to work at their convenience stores. He enjoyed developing relationships with the regular customers and maximizing merchandising opportunities.  Throughout his lifetime, he accumulated a large collection of Sinclair Oil memorabilia.

Steve founded his own company, SK Concrete, and was no stranger to a hard day’s work.  He was always working and always keeping busy juggling his many projects. He was still providing quality concrete finishing and painting services to special customers up to the time of his death.

Steven was very close to his brother and various cousins.  They spent much time throughout the years enjoying out door activities such as hiking, camping and fishing, and bike trips, etc.

For several years, Steven was the owner of a thoroughbred horse that he stabled at the family property in central Utah.  Steve and Don built a large barn and horse stables from scratch for their two thoroughbreds. Eventually, the exercise from mucking out the horse stalls wasn’t as ‘beneficial’ as it was in the beginning and the horse was sold.

Steve’s most recent adventure was a trip to the NASA Space Station in Florida.  Steve now begins a new adventure as he joins his family and friends past. Farewell brother dear.  You will be missed. Until we meet again. With all my love, your sister Joan.
