Chari Mercado DeHart
Chari Mercado DeHart, a resident of Sandy, UT since 2012, died unexpectedly in her sleep early on the morning of March 18, 2021 at the age of 54.
Chari was born in Manila, Philippines on May 4, 1966 to her father Mar (Marcelino) and mother Rosalina Mercado. Chari is the second of her parent’s four children, having an older sister and a younger brother and sister. Chari was raised in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, before arriving in the United States in the early 1980s. Chari lived in Houston, TX, and Montreal, Quebec (Canada) prior to moving to Seattle, WA in 1984.
Chari was in a nursing program at Highline Community College and Renton Vocational school in the Seattle area, and became a nurse. Most of her employment included oncology, long-term and sub-acute units, in-home care, long-term care, and convalescent centers. Chari quit nursing when it became more important to raise her daughter.
Chari met her husband, Scott, in late 1995 in Seattle, and both were married on September 2, 2001. Their first home was in Kirkland, WA, before moving to Woodinville, WA. Chari and Scott adopted their 19 month old daughter, Sophia from Russia in September 2005.
In July 2012, her husband’s job moved the family to the Salt Lake City, UT area, where they have resided in Sandy, UT ever since.
Chari has always been sensitive, compassionate, and generous in nature, and can be best described as a caring and nurturing wife, mother, and the same personality type to everybody that knew her.
Chari is survived by her husband Scott DeHart, her daughter Sophia DeHart,, her father Mar Mercado of Manila, (Philippines), sister Rose Marie Mallot of Barrie, Ontario (Canada), brother Joel Mercado of Barrie, Ontario (Canada), and sister Daisy Cullop of Seattle, WA. Chari is predeceased by her mother, Rosalina Mercado.
Due to both the current Covid-19 situation and the large geographical locations of Chari’s friends and relatives, a memorial celebration will be announced at a later time.
