Jaime Bueno Vasquez 86 died peacefully of complications from COVID 19

Jaime, Was born in Palmira, Colombia, January 23, 1934, son of Lucila Bueno and Manuel Antonio Vasquez Moncaliano. Jaime started working at the tender age of four years old to help his single mom make ends meet. In 1950 he joined Colombia’s Naval Army as apprentice cabin boy, Sub-commissioned 2, Electrician. In 1953 he received the Bronze Star by the United Nations for serving in the Korean War. He retired in 1961 as a Sailor 2 receiving the Navigation License, Second Electrician in the machine specialty. This skill served him to support his family in the line of Refrigeration for the rest of his life. In 1955, he married the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Magdalena Cotes Vanegas, in Cartagena, Colombia. The two of them went on to have 6 children. In 1965 they relocated to Maracaibo, Venezuela where Jaime open his own business, JB Refrigeration. Jamie joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, becoming the first Family of this church in the area. His efforts helped spread the word of god throughout the area. Jamie served the Church in various Callings in the church from Asher to Stake President. In 1986 he relocated to Wendover Utah, where he worked for a casino for few months, then moved to Texas for a short time. Finally, they settled in Salt Lake City, once again opened his own business, JB Refrigeration. After Retirement in 2007, Jamie, spent the remainder of his years doing genealogical vicarious work for the Church. In November of this year he contracted COVID 19. Jaime was a happy individual with a good word and a contagious smile for everyone. He loved fishing, soccer, basketball, chess, music, and the studies of the scriptures. However, his family was the joy of his life. His optimistic personality and faith were his calling cards. Always ready to lend a helping hand and ready to serve. Qualities that help him changed the lives of hundreds and maybe thousands.
Jaime is preceded in death by his mother, Lucila Bueno, and father, Manuel Antonio Vasquez Moncaliano.
He is survived by his bother Cesar (Tesoro) Rodrigues, his children, Jaime (Amalia) Bueno, Blanca (Roberto) Zapata, Ernesto (Betty) Bueno, Ricardo (Martha) Bueno, Evy (Josué) González, Nahir (Lee) Strout, eighteen grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews.
Due to the current pandemic, there no funeral plans. Our family is grateful for your love and heartfelt condolences. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to the frontline workers who assisted Jamie in his final days.
