Joel Glenn Wilson passed away peacefully on May 23, 2017 in his home in Seasons at Pebblecreek in Salt Lake City at the age of 59. Glenn was born on May 7, 1958 to Judy Lott and Joel Wilson. He was raised with his brother Stephen and sisters Vida and Sheila by Judy and her second husband and loving father, Iraj Sami. His parents have all preceded him in death along with half brothers Craig and Mark Wilson. He is survived by siblings and their spouses and children: Stephen Mark (Melissa Oviatt) Wilson, Vida Sami (Karl) Cannon and Sheila Sami (Troy) Andreasen. Glenn's nieces and nephews are Derek (Amy) Wilson, Pamela Sue (Cory) Sheen, Daniel (San) Wilson, Christopher (Paige) Wilson, Stephen (Kayla) Wilson, Kiera Jo (Kevin) Valverde, Brant Andreasen, Mariah Andreasen (Jos Allred), Cassandra (Wade) Anderson, Amanda (Kyle) Gray, Sarah Cannon and Calista Cannon and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and 12 grand nieces and nephews.
He was a kind and gentle soul that served in his community with Hartland University Neigborhood Partners since 2004. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Butler 33rd Ward, Butler West Stake in Cottonwood Heights. He attended regularly until a decline in his health made it increasingly difficult.
Glenn grew up in Ogden, Utah, Southern California and Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Box Elder High School, LDS Seminary, and ROTC in Brigham City. After graduating from high school, Glenn lived in Avalon, Catalina Island, California; Provo, Logan and finally settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. His hobbies were fishing, electronics, music, movies, martial arts, science fiction, and professional and collegiate sports. Glenn was a good example of living within his means, and living life without complaint. Glenn was a giver of lasting, practical gifts, which his family members continue to treasure.
