The most loving, compassionate person you may have ever known has returned to her Heavenly Father. Jackie Lee (Steele) Fox passed away on January 26, 2023, after a lengthy and valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
Jackie was born July 6, 1947, in Tooele, Utah to Thomas Edison Steele and Lorraine Kunz Steele. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1965, where she was very active in student government. After high school graduation, she attended Utah State University, where she belonged to Alpha Chi Omega sorority. While attending USU, Jackie won a competition for "Miss Smile" of Utah (1965). Later that year, she traveled to Hawaii to compete in the national competition.
Jackie married Bruce Bolinder shortly after high school (later divorced.) She married Morris Stuart (deceased), and then married Ned Fox (later divorced.)
Jackie was blessed with a hearing-impaired son, Ryan, and diligently worked to give Ryan the ability to speak. Together with Merrill and Mary Osmond, and Nancy Schenck, she co-founded a foundation for deaf children, "A Child Shall Speak." Jackie went on to work as Placement Director at Stevens Henagar College. During this period, Jackie became the first woman to be initiated into the Provo chapter of Rotary International, received Utah County’s Woman of the Year award and served on the Board of Directors of Utah Youth Village.
Jackie was recruited by the owners of Morris Travel to be a salesperson for incentive travel. Travel was her passion, and she had the opportunity to travel the world, making new friends along the way. Charity was very important to her. Through her work and travels, Jackie helped to provide care, schools, and playgrounds for small communities. Jackie retired after 30 years in the travel industry where she continued to travel and spend time with family and friends. She loved golfing with her brothers and her companion Paul.
Jackie is survived by Paul Diehl, who showed great compassion and care while Jackie was ill. Her three children: Shawn Bolinder, Shannon Stuart, Ryan Stuart and her fourth child (the late Morris Stuart III), whom she regarded as her "deceased angel." Her beloved grandchildren: MJ Powell, Mia Tunstill and Mekhi Tunstill, all of whom were the "love of her life.". Also surviving are two brothers: Frank Steele (Sue) and Scott Steele. Scott and Jackie enjoyed their time together and traveled extensively to many international destinations. They spent many occasions together with friends and family at Scott's "Steele Creek Inn." Jackie also wanted to remember her lifelong friend, Charlotte Strong, who was always with her during her difficult struggle with Parkinson's. To know Jackie, also known as Nana, was to love her. She was a light and inspiration to all that knew her.
An open house celebration of Jackie's life will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3pm-7pm at the Waterbury Clubhouse (1550 Waterbury Way) in Murray, Utah. A small ceremony will be held in Jackie’s special place for her immediate family in the La Sal Mountains at a later date.
