Myrna Jean Gerber

Channel 2 news lost a loyal viewer on April 6th, 2022. Myrna passed away peacefully in her home with her two surviving daughters Vickie and Sherrie at her side after battling breast cancer and other health issues for an extended period of time.

Myrna was born November 14th 1939 to Earlene and Donald Mutchie in Lincoln City, Nebraska. Her parents relocated their family to Utah where her father worked as a lineman.  Her two older brothers and little sister (Donald, Larry, and Karen) grew up in rural areas that instilled their tough, witty, and determined ways, and an even greater work ethic.

Myrna married the love of her life Leland Gerber on June 30th, 1956.  She brought six beautiful babies into this world.  They shared a love for camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling as a family.  They were very passionate about spending family time together. So much that she even made all her kids wait in line for two hours at Knotts Berry Farm, only to get to the front of the line for the ride and changed her mind about going on it. She spent a majority of her working career as a social worker, something she took a lot of pride in as helping those in need was something she was very passionate about.  She was rather quick witted, full of shit, and had the best smart ass comebacks. She made many lifelong friendships, anyone that met her absolutely loved her.  She forged an 82-year trail of laughter, love, generosity, compassion, and wisdom.

Grandma Booger is survived by her children; Vickie (Angel), Sherrie (Robert), grandchildren; Jeremy, Josie (Dustin), Autumn (Jeremy), Amanda (Mike), Breanna, Aly, Karley, Robert, great-grandchildren; Stacie, Dominic, Alex, Nicole, Miranda, Kevin, Adrian, Marcus, Annie, Abel, Taylor, Atlas and Embry, siblings; Donald (Patti), Larry (Della, deceased), Karen (Terry, deceased); many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many cherished friends.

Myrna is preceded in death by her parents Earlene and Donald, the love of her life Leland, her children; daughter at birth, Kevin (Joyce, deceased), Gary (Linda), Lorie (Gilbert); grandchildren Jackie, Sam (Jessica); Aunt Jean, sister-in-law and dearest friend.
