Richard Springgate

Richard Springgate obituary.jpg

Richard (Dick) Springgate passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the age of 75.  He suffered from a car accident and open heart surgery during the last two years, leaving him partially paralyzed.  Although he fought hard to regain his former health, he finally succumbed.

Dick was a Navy veteran. Although trained as a bombardier navigator in the Vietnam War, he spent his Navy years in Antarctica as a navigator, pioneering flight routes over treacherous ice fields to ferry around the scientists.

Dick has been an adventurer since the age of 13. He was an Eagle Scout. Loved mountain climbing, bicycling, kayaking, skiing, sailing, hiking and always had a camera in hand to capture the beauty of the great outdoors.  We have been entertained over the years by stories of his many journeys and explorations.  He has been a published award-winning architectural photographer for 48 years owning his own business in Washington, Hawaii, Colorado and Utah.

He will be forever remembered by his wife and business partner of 27 years, Connie, who is successfully carrying on the photography business. (New 801-856-7737). He will also always be remembered and loved by his brother Robert, sister Linda, stepson Kevin, and many relatives and friends.

We celebrate his full adventurous life and know he's on his way to his next great adventure.

We are respecting Dick's wishes to be cremated and scattered in the beautiful outdoors that he honored with his photography.

Memorial services celebrating Dick's life will be held in North Carolina and Washington at a later time.  Those desiring to make a donation in honor of Dick, to express condolences or to share a passing thought are invited to send them to Connie Springgate (mailing address) 6300 Sagewood Dr #479 Park City, UT 84098rspringgate@gmail.com, 801-856-7737.

Please do not send flowers.
