Our son, brother, nephew, and grandson, Aaron Wilson, Jr, left this life suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Ogden, Utah, on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Aaron was born at home December 21, 1996 in Kanab, Utah, to Aaron Wilson, Sr. and Sarah Clark. His parents later divorced. He was the oldest of 5 children from his parents’ marriage and two more siblings were happily added in his father’s second marriage, making Aaron the oldest of 7.
Aaron was born with 22Q Deletion Syndrome, caused by a deletion on his 22nd chromosome. Because of this, Aaron was born with a heart condition and underwent open heart surgery at the age of one. He struggled with many other medical and learning issues as well as social delays throughout his life. However, due to the assistance of his family, countless doctors, teachers, and specialists, Aaron was able to overcome these obstacles, graduating high school, working full time, and had been living on his own for much of 2018.
Aaron had a passionate love of pizza all his life and would have willingly eaten pizza three meals a day if possible. He adored Mexican food and the Marvel Cinematic Universe and could answer questions about his favorite Avengers at any moment. His family was always kept informed of Marvel related news. He loved playing video games and watching movies. Aaron was also a lover of animals and had a gift for making pets feel comfortable and safe with him.
Aaron loved working. He was proud of his first job as a dishwasher at Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant in Layton, UT. He worked there for 18 months before moving on to full time work at Lifetime in Clearfield. From Lifetime, he moved on to Lofthouse Cookies in Ogden, finally settling in at Readerlink Distribution where he hoped to be added as a permanent employee. He often spoke of his jobs and coworkers with pride and happiness. He had a particular love for earning paychecks, especially when it allowed him to buy more pizza.
Aaron is survived by his cat, Tigger; his father, Aaron Wilson; mother and stepfather, Sarah and Richard Clark, siblings, Miriam, Cate, Alex, Michael, Anya, and Kai Wilson; grandparents, Douglas and Carol Wilson and Douglas and Willie Braudaway, and Michael Zarate; great-grandmother, Leah Rogers; as well as many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt Julee Wilson, uncles Brandt and Blair Wilson, and his cousin, Stacey Wright. We miss him more than can be described with words.
Aaron’s family would like to offer deepest gratitude to Primary Children’s Hospital, Utah Endocrinology Associates, Davis School District Vista Education Campus, his teachers, other doctors, and many family members who offered him support. A special thanks to the staff and management at Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, who cared for him, cheered him on, and were so helpful in his journey to independence.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 11 am at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden located at 705 23rd St, Ogden, UT 84401. A lunch will follow. Aaron’s ashes will be scattered at the Braudaway family farm in Kenedy, Texas, a favorite place for him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the International 22Q11.2 Foundation at 22q.org.
