Clayton Roy Talbot: "Dad & Grandpa"

Clayton Roy Talbot, 66, passed away May 22, 2020 in Kearns, Utah. Born July 9, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Elden Roy and Amy Jean Beckstead Talbot.

Survived by children, Triston Roy Talbot, Tara Talbot Lee, Felicia Talbot, and Brittany Talbot Anderson; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Jean Talbot, Trina Stott, Cindy Mackintosh, and Laura Rickett. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Talbot.

Clayton was a craftsman and artist at the highest level. His skills in carpentry were sought after and employed in many of the temples and great buildings of Utah. The stunning artwork he created with his exceptional drawing and painting abilities will be treasured by his family for generations to come.

He found peace and contentment spending time outdoors, camping, hiking, and fishing. Though he was not the most patient teacher when it came to fishing, his skill was demonstrated to those who observed him. The “catch of his life” came a few years ago when he landed a large brown trout near Mount Nebo. We have never seen him so happy.

Hospitality was one of his greatest qualities, famous for saying, “Take your coat off and stay a while.” He was quick to offer you a seat and something to eat, which usually included Grandma Beckstead’s homemade bread. No meal was complete for Clayton without salt and a heavy dose of pepper. To make it even better, it would include blueberry pie for dessert and a cup of coffee. The many hours spent at the small kitchen table playing Skip-Bo strengthened connections with both friends and family.

Though he struggled with his health in recent years, he still made positive impressions on those around him, especially his grandchildren. He loved to hold them for hours while they watched movies together. He was a good man with a big heart.

Though he will be greatly missed by those of us he leaves behind, reuniting with his dear parents and his sister, Sandra, brings us all great peace.
